However, I assume it will keep more water on the deck than necessary, and also, the deck pad will be vulnerable (and the glued surface area will be a lot smaller).

I would be interested to read about people's experiences with this pad...

And here I've been looking at it the other way- I bet all those little holes sure do make that pad light! I will be very interested to hear some reviews as well as long term durability tests.

That is pretty slick JD! Funny how in all my years of surfing I didn't spend so much time thinking about stomp pads. But I guess since they cover such a large area now on a SUP that it makes more of a difference.
