Nilahue fall

img_0535.jpg

Chile, X region de los Lagos, Nilahue river, Nilahue Fall.

What's it like

A beautiful park and huck drop.

The waterfall is like 20 meters high. There is an undercut at the bottom on river left, but five of us ran it and no one went there - easy to avoid.

How to get there

If you are by car on the North of the X region de los Lagos, find your way to the national high way number E-5,hit down to Los Lagos town, keep going on th E-5 for about 18kilometers, then get the road to Futrono Town , and stars unpacking your camara, beautiful scenary. After 50k you will be in town but the journey is not over. The RANCO Lake will be on your right hand side. In about 28 kilometers you will be on the Nilahue brige, the waterfall is downstream. Drive across the brige, and on your right there is a camping spot. A small fees is required. Perfect spot for an awesome photo spot, and scout point, perfect also for a safety set up.

The Put-in is just about the fall on river right ....Run the top rapid could be a not such a good idea, take out is river left 100 meters after the fall(class V)

The water level, is always hard to predict but normally between January-March should be good, for map info go to: http://www.turistel.cl/v2/secciones/mapas/ruteros/lagos.htm

Locals

Not many kayakers around, but if you're coming from Pucon, there are always people of the kayak shop (kayakchile) there.

Footage

You can see the fall in Epicocity project, but it has changed to a single one.
