Glide was founded BY river paddlers FOR river paddlers. As SUP moved inland, it was clear that ocean boards couldn’t handle the rigors of running the whitewater rivers that Glide considered home.

The Utah State University Canoe and Kayak Club goal is to have fun! Organized trips are planned throughout the year with veteran members leading on a volunteer basis.

The motivation for this project originated from the results of a fatal kayaking accident to Lucas Brandon Turner, who died on the North Fork of the Payette River in Idaho on July 12, 1998, due to the failure of a commercially available helmet to protect his head from blunt trauma.
