We set out in 2012 to become the most innovative board company in the world. We established our factory in Idaho, a state dotted with shimmering mountain lakes and the most whitewater rivers in the country.

As avid outdoor enthusiasts, Jeff and Julie Streeter were accustomed to 100+ days of skiing in Colorado and backcountry excursions in all four seasons. So when they started a family, friends suggested they may have to give up their backcountry pursuits. They both thought, why?

In the early 70's Bill Parks had two passions: paddling and business. So with $2000 in savings, he started NRS (Northwest River Supplies). In 2008, Salamander was bought by New River Gear and moved it's headquarters to Boise, Idaho where all production now takes place.
