During ten years as a writer, filmmaker and adventurer, Jon Bowermaster traveled around the world by sea kayak, one continent at a time from remote Aleutian Islands to the coast of Vietnam, French Polynesia to South America s high, dry Altiplano, from Gabon to Croatia, Tasmania and the Antarctic Peninsula. The kayaks provided Bowermaster a unique, one-of-a-kind look at both the health of the world s oceans and the lives of people who depend on them. They also provided he and his teams with some world-class adventures. During the decade of exploration they endured the icy waters of the Bering Sea, a variety of Shark Cities in the Polynesian atolls called the Tuamotus, run-ins with elephants, hippopotamus, crocodiles and buffalo in the lagoons of Gabon and giant swells off the coast of southeastern Tasmania.
