About Me
I have been kayaking for 5 years. I have paddled in the u.s. and chilé. I have also been instructing for 3 at the u.s. national whitewater center in Charlotte, NC, and through H2odreams, teaching play boating and creeking clinics throughout the southeast. I have paddled many different kayaks over the years in order to learn the pros and cons of all the different designs. I think its a great way to figure out which design works best for you. I started paddling bliss-stick kayaks 2 years ago and have loved them every since.
Pros / The Good
The TUNA is fast...very fast. It stays nice and high out of the water and when plugged it resurfacing even and ready to go. i love the hybrid hull, which is Bliss-Sticks speciality. This allows for speed, predictability, stability and carvability. Pretty hard to find all characteristics in one boat with out sacrificing one thing or the other...not the case for the TUNA. My favorite thing about this boat is the stern. It literally explodes out of features due to the stern rocker profile and the hard edge that extends all the way end.
Cons / The Bad
The only con I have, if you can call it a con, is that you have to really be aggressive when paddling this boat. It wants to be moving forward. If you are not an aggressive boater it might be a little too much to handle or it might teach you to become a more aggressive boater (to put a positive spin on it). Rapids come at you much sooner due to its speed, so you have to be on your game. :)
