About Me
I'm a new paddler, been going about 3 months now and have started to get into class IV runs at this point. Besides 2 days in a Necky Blunt the Medievil is the only kayak I've ever used. I've paddled The Chilliwack and a few other class III and + rivers in Southwestern BC/Washington state. This should be considered a beginner review.
Pros / The Good
The Medievil is a great beginner boat for the someone who wants to have a decent learning curve (not too easy or hard). The edges make it active and really punchy through everything, holes will try to grab you and you've got to transfer your weight forward or you'll spend lots of time stern squirting precariously. Great surf boat with amazing primary stability and easy to roll. You won't learn incredibly easily, but you'll be better as you progress with this boat and should find an easy transition to something newer once you've moved beyond.
Cons / The Bad
Uncomfortable, no knee/thigh padding, barely big enough for me heightwise (6'2") with the stock 'footrests', no seat padding, it's definately an old school slice boat. Lots of stern. Shaped like a playboat, but too big to easily pull of flatwater manoevres.
