I start paddling last year in a little hole near my home . I do start with a riot air witch everyone told me that was the worst boat for a begginner .I learn really rapidly and get skill rapidly due to my background in c2 canoe competition an rabaska .After a couple of week I just wanted to try a wave to change from these little hole so me and me friend wet to the lachine !! In summary i've paddle the lachine , habitat 67 , the ottawa river (horseshoe hole, garb, pushbutton waikiki) jacque cartier river (tewks,pont rouge) and the batiscan wave

the batiscan wave and the rapide des hetres wave at high level of water and the jacque cartier river for river running

Review

at the end of the last summer 2007 I juste buy a new astro . the next day I juste went to the lachine ! in big joe it give a lot of bounce but my boat wasnt foam . but in early 2008 I just put it in a real test in downriver and playboat. I change the original seat for a power seat ! for the comfort I've see best not enough place for the feet and hard on the hankle (not that I have not try different way to foam it ) for the wave the boat is awesome it's bouce very well, to carve you need to be very aggressive to have a nice carve to place yourself on the wave .In a green wave this boat is very slow i'm juste for the limit weight for the 54 (maybe I'm not the one to refer for a green wave) and I can see it on a green wave the boat was not fast enough too stay on the wave even when trying to carve it I do flush . With a big wave with a foam pile this boat is a mess ! BIG AIR move possible easy to land. In a hole a didn't have the skill to test it .

Conclusion

nice boat easy to control give big air move in a wave
slow on a green wave
need to be aggresive to carve
well balance for river runner
high perfomance boat but very inconfortable with the power seat
