Apr 10 Social Instagram AIR FRANCE PADDLE FESTIVAL 2017 - What a tough race this turned out to be, exemplifying the rising standard of Tahitian paddlers and ever increasing support by the community. A body smashing up wind paddle for at least 8km, side chop and strong currents tested riders and equipment to the limit. Steeve Teihotaata for the most part held back in 2nd and 3rd position with Rete Ebb back around 7th spot. Leaving the pass for the turn and the downwind section, Steeve fell and just at this point Georges Cronsteadt put in a big effort to open up a healthy lead on everyone. Spectator boats made an already messy ocean even more confused and the press boat at times only added to the problem. Loosing valuable ground and placings, Steeve resumed and paddled like a man possessed. He and his Equinox were visibly faster than any other man on the course and if you watch the re-run you will see what we mean. Catching Cronsteadt just before heading back in behind the reef, there was again some issues with spectator boats in which Steeve was caught up in. The long slog back to the finish, saw Rete, after a great effort downwind, pull up into 4th position. At the end Mistral finished with Steeve a close 3rd and Rete in 4th. A great effort under very tough conditions. (Bruno also put in a great effort as he turns his focus to SUP, a much admired and respected paddler.).
