About the reviewer I kayak down the lehigh a lot and am used to going through class II rapids, mostly in other people boats that are underrated for someone my size about 6 ft and 245-255 depending on the day I picked up a Dagger Animas from a friend for cheap. Test environment My Brother and I went down a stretch of creek that normally is about 3 feet deep, this past weekend we had torrential rain in the northeast and as a result the creek flooded from those few inches to about 2 1/2 to 3 feet over. With the rocky bed there were a lot of rough waves easily big enough to surf the Animas on. The rapids are located in three spots through the section of the creek we paddled and each is separated by about a mile of fairly deep flatwater that gave me time to practice rolling the boat and tuning it in a bit more. at the end there is a broken dam that causes a few really large waves. Review Since it was my first time in the boat on the water the first set of rapids were a bit touchy since...
About the reviewer Work as Manager in French Creek Outfitters in Kayak department Test environment Flat water turned in into some rough tight turns through rocks further down river. Easy to fish off of handled great through turns and no problems when hitting some shallow spots hull took it well. Review Smooth glides well through the water, fits larger paddlers well. Handles like a 10 or 9 foot boat but tracks like one much larger, excellent for just about anything save high whitewater. Conclusion Great for beginners who want a good all around boat that is stable, or an experienced paddler that wants something that is not to big and bulky when getting on and off the roof rack and is still easy to carry by yourself
About the reviewer Work at French Creek Outfitters Kayak department manager Test environment Flood stage on Manatawny Creek in Pottstown Pa. Maybe small class 2 at a few points. Review Handled very well, easy to surf in small waves we found near a broken dam, pulls 360 spins well, end over end probably didn't work because i am a bit to heavy for the boat. But it was easy to recover and glided through all the stream with ease. Grinded down a rock over a small waterfall which was surprisingly easy. Didnt fit to well a little cramped for my feet and thighs when getting in Conclusion Great boat to use for a paddler to the weight range around 220 lbs ( about 100 kilos) don't push it to far or the performance suffers. Great all around play boat though.
