The cavalry sword of the samurai. Designed specifically for racing as it was for battle.
Designed from the ground up specific for down river and creek race, in collaboration between our engineers and some of the best racers in the world. As race courses are more commonly set on harder and harder runs, we want to assure that going fast didn’t have to mean worrying about your paddle. The Odachi brings our Bomber reputation to the race paddler.
• With an increased blade to shaft offset, this blade forward design gives a more powerful catch and more verticality through the power phase.
• Greater dihedral to stabilize powerful forward strokes through turbulent conditions.
• Long blade length (49cm) provides greater leverage.
Race inspired blade tip. Symmetrical shape for more surface area, for more efficiency when matching a more vertical race stroke. Subtle scoop for more purchase.
• Along with carbon bent and straight shafts, we’ve optimized materials and manufacturing techniques to obtain lower weight, remain strong and provide a comfortable flex. Less fatigue on your body overall, for the longer races.
Because you still hit rocks when you go fast, Dynel® edging is highly abrasion and impact resistant. Protecting the fine-tuned carbon blades from the elements.
NOTE. Design features that make this paddle fast, also make for a unique feel in your hands. Bracing and rolling are different. With our proven River Running line up to round out your quiver, we did not intend the Odachi to be an all around paddle.
Although our Ultimate performance paddles are far and away our best paddling, their unique design characteristics and materials do not make them our most impact resistant. Look to our Premium paddles for the highest impact resistance.
Feather Angle: 1-piece options- unfeathered, Right hand control or left hand control, up to 90 degrees, in 5 degree increments. 2-piece and 4-piece options not available.
#Performance Level
Ultimate
Our Ultimate Performance brings together all of our most advanced designs. Paddles that offer Ultimate Performance have an exceptionally light, buoyant and quiet feel on the water.
#Blade Designs
• Blade Dihedral
Dihedral blade shape was created to direct water to flow evenly off each side of the blade creating a smooth and stable stroke.
• Dynel Edge
Dynel is an extremely abrasion and impact resistant edge material. Key to protecting your investment if you come in contact with rocks or reef often in your paddling.
#BLADE SHAPE
•Whitewater Race-Blades
To develop our Odachi whitewater race blade shape we started from scratch on R&D and worked with some of the best paddlers in the world for feedback. What you get is more powerful, more stable, fast forward strokes.
#Shaft Features
Neutral Bent Shaft
Align your wrists in a more ergonomic position; reduce fatigue gain the confidence of full hand contact. Neutral Bent means blade, ferrule and grip in a straight line for a familiar feel of a straight shaft.
Whitewater Race-Shaft
Optimized for flex, strength and light weight. Look to the all carbon straight and bent shafts on our Odachi.

Ultimate
Our Ultimate performance brings together all of our most advanced designs. Paddles that offer Ultimate Performance have an exceptionally light, buoyant and quiet feel on the water. Our blades designed with more volume creates a blade profile that displaces more water for a significantly lighter, more buoyant feel on the water. The added buoyancy assists the blade from the water at the exit of the stroke. This allows you to use less energy on long paddle outings, creates a more stable brace, and enhances kayak rolls in aerated water. The smooth back profile increases paddle performance by allowing water to flow uninterrupted. This results in smooth, quiet, fluid strokes, in all directions. Our carbon shaft combines light weight with our reputation for strength, derived for the experience of handcrafting paddles for the most extreme users. We also spend quite a bit of time testing flex. With each stroke you feel just the perfect about of flex, making the paddle softer on your joints. In your hands you feel balance, and our lightest swing weight paddles derived from a combination of blends of our lightest weight carbon and fiberglass Longer days on the water are ahead. Although our best paddling paddle, the Ultimate performance level does compromise impact resistance for light weight and performance. Strong for its intended use paddlers should be mindful that these paddles should be used, but not abused.
