An all around playboat designed to allow bigger paddlers to shred the entire river.

When compared with the Turbo, the Nitro features a wider stern, increased volume to accomodate heavier paddlers and a new hull design, rocker profile and balanced volume distribution, the Nitro is an all river play machine with down river stability and "throw-down" ability. Low profile side walls make it easy to roll.

A Great Boat

About the reviewer

I've began Paddleling 3 years ago. I do kayak 1 or 2 weekend per year. I eveluate myself as a begenner/intermidiate.

Test environment

Surfin at Guy Wave, St-Laurent river, Lachine

Review

The boat goes pretty well. The boat is also forgiveness for the paddler mistakes. The boat gives a good control on the wave. It is also easy to eskimo it.

Conclusion

It's a good all arround kayak to learn. I will buy it soon. The only probleme with Riot is the confort of the Kayak.

Great large paddler boat

Hi,

I am a large paddler, 6'3'' 240pds, was paddling a booster 60 before, and tried several playboats before I found the Nitro. I have to admit that even with everything ripped off, I am still pretty tight and not very comfortable, but the fun capacities of the boat increased my level of paddling by 100%. I discovered the fun of catching air, air blunts, donkey flips and cartwheel are now easy stuff...

Finnaly a boat that allows larger paddler to be at the same level of others... (alomost)

Great downriver playboat

I picked this up after a year of getting lazy in a Superfun. The more aggresive paddling style required spanked me back into shape at first. Now that I'm more on top of it I really enjoy the boat.

It has good ferry speed and carves up a wave like mad. I see it as sort of a cross between a booster and an air. I paddled a booster 60 for a couple of years ago and the nitro looses a little stabilty, but makes up for it with much greater response to body input.

I have to keep up my guard more than with some other boats, but pays off with big fun factor as a result.

I'm no full on playboater, but I can feel a roundhouse coming, which will lead to blunts. A friend that is much more skilled than I pumped it into a bow stall on faltwater with ease.

I did have to remove the thigh hooks and footbrace to get comfortable in the boat and still don't like Riot's small cockpit.

Jackson incorporates integrated thighbraces like riot, but has a much safer exit. To blend the Jackson cockpit to a Riot hull would be supreme.
