The Ammo provides a shorter package that is slightly more responsive than the Burn and ideally suited to tighter, narrower more technical runs. Its centred volume distribution and medium rails will also open up some sweet new play lines and spots for those with more advanced skill's to play in places never played before!

unlike many, I was an intermediate paddler by the time I got this boat (this was a loong way from my starter boat!). I needed an all-around boat that would be good for rescues/towing/gear retrievals and which fit me well. The Ammo S fit the bill...

Despite having a planning hull, you will never mistake this boat for a playboat (or even river-runner/playboat) - it simply doesn't have that level of performance. And I've spent enough time in various displacement-hull boats to say it won't take the place of a true creeker. But for a general-purpose river-runner (or all-around compromise boat) it does very well (also works well as a lite-creeker). If I had to narrow my quiver of boats down to one, this would be the boat. It's the most versitile boat I've paddled.

This is not a hard boat to roll, but it is a SLOW boat to roll - it simply comes around slowly and can't be rushed (this is actually good, as it gives you lots of time to brace &/or correct edging to prevent a flip)...if you're one of those people (like me) who has a problem slowing down their roll, this boat will either cure that or kill your roll...

About Me
Intermediate paddler? Whatever that really means (lol). Mostly paddle class II/III, do some instruction, run safety for groups...I'm female, 5'4", 48 yrs old
Pros / The Good
Great general all-around river-runner. Forgiving. Gives you time to correct edging "mistakes". Good hull speed for the size.
Cons / The Bad
A compromise boat - performance neither good nor bad. Has a very slow roll.

Rogue River, mellow

Review

I got this boat to serve as a learning tool for my girlfriend and a creeker for me. So far she feels really comfortable in the boat as a fit and for being on the water. She is a SMALL person, and is able to move this boat around. The edges are a little trippy for her going through holes, and the boat recovers well. The edges are nice for boat control as she learns eddying out and ferrying.

I have not had a chance to creek with it yet, fore there is nothing running. I am favorable to small manueverable creek vehicles. I say vehicle because this is not a traditional creek boat by any means. I have creeked in an old pyrahna attack years ago and liked it. This boat feels similar to the attack with more volume.

Conclusion

Sweet down river boat, both comfortable and forgiving. The ammo has not seen massive holes or features so this review is based on mellow features suitable for a teaching environment. Oh, the boat is super light and easy to lug around. I think this will be an asset in many realms.
