About Me
im 14 and have been using this boat for the last few weeks.
Pros / The Good
This boat is to be quite honest one of the nicest kayaks i have ever paddled for a stars it is extremely easy to roll and hand roll exelent for begginers to learn the basics of white water and playboating after only being in this boat for a couple of weeks ive decided to sell my old boat to purchase the 4-twenty as i am so impressed with its performance and comfort i have only been in it on rivers and small rapids so far but i can imagine it would not feel out of place in the sea or in rapids another good thing about this boat is it performs as well as the latest playboats out at only a fraction of the price i would recomend buying this boat what ever your experience level.
Cons / The Bad
i cant really think of any bad things to say about this boat exept i cant believe more people dont have them :D.

Great boat

About myself

I am an avid downriver playboater and creeker.

About the test environment

Tested on the Rogue River in OR. mellow downriver run

Review

There were not many features to test the boat on so much of my information is based on flat water. The 4twenty is a perfect fit for my size! I have been searching for a long time. It is easy to throw around and balances well for the amount of volume in the stern. It stalls on both ends well and pirouettes from a stall suprisingly easy. This will set up great in a hole for Mcnasties, and other more dynamic moves.

The boat is sound as a downriver boat for sure. It is fairly fast for its length. I get big air on downriver moves like air wheels and wave splitwheels (I have an overthruster). Landings always feel comfortable.

Have not had it on big waves or holes, and on small features it appears functional. This is the way with all short playboats for me though. Will not really know with out a dynamic feature.

Conclusion

Great comfortable down river playboat. The outfitting takes some work, but what boat doesn't. I am looking forward to testing it further.

Review

So I have been paddling since I was old enough to hold one. I started in a canoe and ran my first whitewater at age seven. Fell in LOVE. I bought my first play boat when I was 14. I bought a s/m 4-20 last week and spent about 18 hrs on the river over the weekend.

I started in flat water and loved it from the start. Cartwheels like a dream. From there moved to the falls of the James, class II-IV.

What can I say? I absolutely love this boat. To be honest I'm pissed off that I have a job and can't be in it all day everyday.

I was worried that it would get swallowed up in big water due to its size but its design allows for a lot of volume and a shit load of control.

Conclusion

I love this boat. So comfy i could sleep in it. Buy one.

Flatwater

Review

I really liked the look and comfort of this boat so I decided to take a test run on flatwater.

COMFORT: I'm about 5'10" and I still had about 4" of room left in the front. The seat was also in the neutral factory position. Moving the seat back will give an enormous amount of room. The syncro six outfitting is really really nice. The whole rachet backband system is very nice. The thigh braces could use some work. They are on the small side and for skinny legs you might slide out a lot. The seat was comfy and holds the bottom nice.

BOAT ITSELF: The first thing that caught my attention is the weight of this boat. This is the LIGHEST boat I have ever picked up. It weighed like nothing. Because of the lightness aireal moves will go big and manuevring the boat is very easy. The volume is evenly distributed which seems to be many boat companys ideas. Also love the name.

PERFORMANCE: I only tested on flatwater so i have no idea what it does on waves or holes. On flatwater, bow and stern stalls have never been so easy for me!! The boat has very distinctive balance points which can help you with your stalls. It seems like the boat would do very well on a wave and pretty good in a hole. Then again I would have no idea. Flatwater loops seemed possible in this boat but i havent learned one yet. Cartwheels are there too. This boat will get you dizzy on how many ends you can throw. I really am not good at flatwater moves, but i was suprised cause this boat opened the door for me.

Conclusion

I'm definitely going to purchase this boat this weekend. This boat was truely amazing. Pyranha has really stepped up their game this year realeasing the 4Twenty boats. This boat is probably the key to anyone who wants to take their boating to the next level. Once I have the boat for awhile and get acustomed to what it will do on waves and holes I will write another review.
