We're excited to introduce the Oru Kayak! It unfolds quickly, easily and almost magically, out of a compact box.
SKIN: This is what makes it all work! The origami skin has creases permanently molded in, so it folds easily between boat and case. There is only one seam—above the waterline, on top of the boat. It closes tight with a watertight rubber gasket.
STRUCTURE: Solid plastic ribs keep the cross-sectional shape. A rigid floorboard (which also becomes the lid of the case) reinforces the cockpit. Simple straps and buckles hold everything together, making assembly quick and intuitive.
USE AND COMFORT: You'll be able to paddle for hours, thanks to our comfortable foam seat and backrest. A fully adjustable footrest will keep you comfortable and in control. The Oru Kayak fits standard spray skirts, float bags, and four-piece paddles.
BOAT: the Oru Kayak is 12’ long, 25” wide, and 13” high. The cockpit is reinforced, and the seat and backrest are padded.
CASE: the Oru Kayak becomes its own carrying case (33"x29"x10"), with space to hold a life vest, paddle, and other accessories.
MATERIALS: The origami skin is manufacturer-rated for 20,000 fold cycles without structural failure.
SUSTAINABILITY: The Oru Kayak is fully recyclable, and uses 70% less petroleum to manufacture than a standard kayak.
DURABILITY: The double-layered plastic hull is extremely tough and abrasion-resistant. With normal care, it will last for years.
MANUFACTURING: We are proud to make the Oru Kayak in California.
