Super balanced, whether on the bow or stern, or transitioning between the two, the Chronic slices, bounces or carves into all the moves.
With great speed for its length, it surfs and hops into big airs and blunts with ease. Forgiving when setting up for the next move, the Chronic is extremely loose on a green face, shreds holes and turns the flats into a playground. Necky's unique recoil alloy outfitting creates a light and stiff hull that translates the paddler's energy directly to the boat. Dial the fit in straight out the wrapper and go rip the local playspot Necky style.

To summarise this is the best boat you could pick to run grade 4 in take to a clean 6ft surf break, learn to loop in and shred up your local play spot and have some flatwater fun. For a six foot paddler or below look no further

About Me
35 years old, 6ft and 75kgs I have been paddling since I was 10. I have been to the French Alps twice once in my Riot Disco and once in my Chronic. I am not a master playboater, haven't managed to learn to loop yet but can throw ends till the sun comes down. Paddled upto grade 5 (once upon a time) but mostly 3 and 4 and love to play the River
Pros / The Good
I've paddled many rivers in the French Alps in June 2005 when I first got the boat with good levels of snow melt and can say the boat handled it with ease, since then I've paddled it on the Upper Dart in high water which was great, many Welsh rivers and lots of surf trips. It's super fast on a wave and initiates ends really easily very responsive in a hole you can get it hopping down fast waves. You can nail pretty much any eddy that it can fit in on even the more difficult rapids and precisely. It's super stable front and rear (unless you don't want it to be!) punches through holes really well and can certainly smash loads more moves than I'm capable of! I have seen a Chronic being flatwater looped which is most impressive
Cons / The Bad
I really don't want to give this boat up after owning and loving it for 14 years but my feet are size 10.5 and I won't lie it is am issue after a while in the boat, I'm not talking ten minutes but spending the day in it has its difficulties.

About the reviewer
I have been paddling for about 3 years. I started out with a Prijon Creeker 225, Diesel 65, and then onto the Necky Chronic.Test environment
I get to paddle a few rivers considering the long drive to the mountains of NC, so it is mostly the Haw. Weldon wave, the beach and the whitewater park in Charlotte.Review
Based on what I have paddled with the Chronic it is like it is titled a Super Fun boat. It is fast for its length and a blast of waves. It wants to spin like a top and you can throw the ends with ease. She also rolls wonderfully. The outfiiting is nice due to its durability, however I have been in instances where the thigh braces have either bruised or cut my thigh on exiting. The metal can have a sharp edge. The stern has a tendancy to catch due to the low volume, but once you move the seat forward a bit that fixes that. This boats is also fun to take to the beach and hit up some surf. Paddling out takes little effort and those slicey ends make wave wheels easy and a blast. Overall this is a great boat. I can see where it could be a challenge for beginners but with some time on the water you'll be ripping it.Conclusion
I love this boat!Review
