The Trainer is targeted to the paddler looking for a flatwater specific SUP. Something to work out on on lakes and estuaries. Everything about this board is targeted towards this end - both for efficiency and convenience.
We gave the board a very straight outline, with pulled in ends that both start and end in low profile points. We then gave the bottom a low rocker, deep “V” in the ends, with a rolled bottom through the center. In the tail is a long single fin so you need minimal “J-Stroking” to keep it tracking. The bottom shape is so effective that the fin can even be removed for shallow river and lake paddling!
The result is a board which can cover great distances effortlessly, whether downwind swell riding or crossing a pristine calm lake at sundown, but all still on a stable easy to use platform.
The innovations don’t stop there. We took a good look at recreational kayaks, and incorporated some of their features into this. End handles (as well as the center one) so the boards can be carried easily side by side by two people, and deck bungee rigging allows you to put a windbreaker, or dry bag with lunch or camera on board for extended paddles.
