There's tons of storage space so you can spend 3 or 4 days on the water, (and top-shelf outfitting so you'll want to). There's a speedy hull that turns when you lean it, and there's that combination of stability and responsiveness that you'll only find in a Dagger. Is it a short day touring boat of a long Rec boat? Who cares. Let's go boating.

More recreation than touring
I bought this boat as my first boat. I'm 5'8" 130lbs and handled this boat with ease. I usually paddle this boat in a flat water environment but have been out in 2ft waves with it. The boat tracks well and is very stable. I have a Sealskin Sneak Skirt for the boat. This skirt makes the huge cockpit a little better. The boat will plow through grasses and marshlands with ease in only inches of water. I typically use this boat for photography and have had much success with it. The only time the boat was flipped was when a brand new paddler got in it (very first kayak ever for her) and tried to edge after seeing me do it in another boat....
The back rest is ok, with an inflatable bladder in it. It could use a thigh brace and I have no rudder for it. But over all I would give it a 4. Fun boat. Great to learn out of.
