International Rivers Millions of Congolese in darkness even after building of 2 dams on the Congo RIver
International Rivers - The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Katanga region get electricity from the Inga 1 and 2 dams that were built at Inga Falls, Congo river. In the 50 years of it’s functioning these dams provide electricity only to mining areas for mineral extraction and rich localities. Countless villages are ignored and are still in darkness even today. People near the land were displaced without compensation. World Bank has done refinancing of the dams but it’s for the dams to provide electricity to the mining regions not the commong people of Congo.
