SUP Surf The 2016 SUP World Cup – Recap by Connor Baxter
SUP Surf - Connor Baxter secures Victory at Stop 2 of the 2016 World SeriesThe 2016 SUP World Cup in Scharbeutz Germany was a huge event. There was a huge crowd on the beach and a stacked field of competitors.
Mt. Hood H2O Ohanapecosh Update
Mt. Hood H2O - The Ohanapecosh experienced some high water this last Winter, and produced some notable changes on the stretch from Secret Camp to La Wis Wis campground.
PaddleBlogs Kayak Huasteca: Sawyer Paddles and Oars Venom WW SUP Paddle Review
PaddleBlogs - A few months ago i found myself on the Rio Actopan in Mexico.  We run a 22 foot near vertical slide at the put in for this wild and beautiful river.
ACA Coastal Kayak Instructor Certifications
ACA - Dawid Mocke has been racing open ocean downwind races for 15 years. He has traveled the globe as a professional paddler, has won over 30 international surfski titles and has been the World Surfski Series Champion an unprecedented 4 times.
Palm Blogs Zenith Jacket – The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread
Palm Blogs - The Zenith jacket is without doubt the best drytop I have ever had. The most noticible difference from a normal drytop is that instead of having a tight uncomfortable latex gasket strangling you and irritating your neck it is fitted with super smooth, comfortable and aptly named GlideSkin.
Inflatable Kayaks & Packrafts Seawave Rudder MkII tested
Inflatable Kayaks & Packrafts - While waiting for rudder bits to turn up, we went out for an evening paddle round Eilean Mullagrach. It was pretty calm but at no point did I think, ‘Darn, I wish I had a rudder’. When it came to turning corners we just paddled hard or dragged a blade and round we came. But the Seawave rudder project carries on like a supertanker with a jammed… rudder, if for no other reason than it’s fun to experiment and a rudder can also work as an articulated skeg when locked out – something I’ll look into when it’s all done.
Jackson Kayak The 2016 GoPro Mountain Games
Jackson Kayak - Well, this year was the highest water levels I had ever seen for the GoPro Steep Creek race. The Homestake creek course is usually notorious for being low volume, and tons of sharp shallow rocks. A normal flow is between 80-200 CFS (cubic feet per second), though this year the race was in the 600’s and we had several practice laps in the 800’s CFS while leading up to the race.
SUP Magazine SUP Women- Tarryn King
SUP Magazine - Saltwater seems to run through Tarryn King’s veins. A water woman to the core, the South African has a background in short boarding and is a champion long boarder, so, naturally, she’s excelled quickly since picking up SUP surfing.
Palm Blogs Stinging floaters and gentle jellies – identifying jellyfish
Palm Blogs - If you’ve been out kayaking on the coast recently you are sure to have seen the spring bounty of jellyfish. In calmer bays and channels they may gather in the hundreds, clouding the water with their gently pulsating bells and trailing tentacles, or in open water you may catch sight of a pale mass sinking to the depths.
Simon Wyndham Film Review: “Rivering”
Simon Wyndham - Kayaking is a visually amazing sport. The sights of the rapids, the sounds, and the way in which the extreme ends of the sport often involve falling off gigantic waterfalls. It isn’t surprising that companies will usually only sponsor content that shows such extremes. After all, they want the “wow” factor. The trouble is that this is often completely off putting to new participants in the sport. I have long since argued that kayaking companies and publishers need to do more to portray the fun side of the sport, and to entrench more the idea that anyone can give white water paddling a go.
PaddleWoo JP Australia 8.0 Session Notes
PaddleWoo - I’m a believer in the race to the bottom, the idea that it’s worth the time and energy needed to learn to paddle smaller boards, because surfing them is much easier.
Tony Paradise A waterhaul in Flatrock for pumpkin churney
Tony Paradise - Saturday Brian Cathy, Des, Gary, Hazen, Terry and I met at Middle Cove for a paddle to Flatrock.  As we readied the kayaks to put-in Cathy said her sister Julie would be waiting for us in Flatrock with pumpkin chutney.  Not only was the day starting out with the anticipation of a fantastic paddle along a stunning coastline but also the exotic taste of pumpkin chutney. Under blue skies without a cloud we left Middle Cove.
Jackson Kayak APE’s Celebrate 15 Years of Cleaning Up the Nolichucky River
Jackson Kayak - Saturday, June 18th, marked the 15th Annual Nolichucky Cleanup. The Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts have been hosting this event annually to help keep the Nolichucky River clean for paddlers, fishermen, and river-users alike! The summer is a very popular time for people frequent the rivers recreationally and the APEs group is proud to help everyone see the beauty of the Nolichucky by keeping it clean the way nature presented it.
Girls at Play Bucket List- Get Your Face Wet
Girls at Play - We don’t come out to the river from no-where, we all have our stories that bring us to or away from the waters edge. Last week I had the joy of working with two profound ladies in an Intro to White Water Class.
Kokatat A Year with Poseidon and I’m in Love
Kokatat - When paddling, coaching and guiding, I’m looking for comfort, pockets, fit, and visibility when choosing a PFD. Kokatat’s Poseidon, delivers on all accounts. Designed with a modular pocket system that can be configured in almost any way imaginable, the life vest comes with a super roomy chest pocket. I chose to expand my options and upgraded with the Poseidon Expedition Kit that includes the Tactic Pack, Hydrapak 1.5 liter reservoir, Belly Pocket, and Quick Release Belt.
