Spannend geht es weiter im Kampf um das internationale Vorrecht den SUP Sport organisieren zu dürfen und Weltmeisterschaften auszurufen. Pünktlich zum Saisonstart der APP Tour in London meldet man sich mit einer Pressemitteilung.
Ihr könnt das ganze unten in Englisch lesen und ich werde ein paar Sachen dazu kommentieren. Was ich aber sicher interessant finde ist, der Umstand das die ISA sowie die APP eine eigene SUP Weltmeisterschaft ausrufen. Da würde ich sehr gerne mal hören wie man das unter ein Dach bringen will.

The Association of Paddlesurf Professionals [APP], said:
“As it kicks of its season with the opening event next week, the APP, the professional body for the sport of SUP, is proud to reaffirm its recognition and acknowledgment of the International Surfing Association [ISA] as the sole worldwide governing body for SUP.
Tolle Sache findet auch das Stand Up Magazin. Jetzt müsste man nur noch gemeinsame SUP Weltmeisterschaften machen.
“Many of the world’s most elite professional SUP athletes exclusively represent the APP World Tour as the only recognized official global professional tour, which is exclusively sanctioned by the ISA.
Stimmt nur bedingt. Der einzige Athlet der wohl exklusiv für die APP paddelt ist Kai Lenny. Alle anderen Paddeln wo immer es ihnen beliebt. Anzufügen ist hier auch, das die APP vielen Teilnehmern horrende Summen bezahlt hat für Marketing und PR.
“The APP and ISA’s unique partnership is defined by the understanding that SUP is born from the sport of surfing. We believe SUP enjoys a strong affinity with surfing and our shared culture and values ensure our organisations work harmoniously together so we can provide a long-term professional pathway for all elite SUP surfers and racers.
So fühle auch ich: SUP ist dem Surfen entsprungen und dessen Kultur.
“Both the ISA and APP continue to work tirelessly in unison to grow and develop SUP worldwide in the interests of the global SUP community and elite athletes – ensuring that this youthful and exciting sport continues to enhance its profile and flourish in every part of the world. It is also clear the ISA has supported athletes by staging elite-level competitions through the organization of the annual ISA SUP World Championships since 2012 – an event where all the world’s best SUP competitors participate.
Auch das stimmt, die ISA und die APP machen schon seit Jahren SUP Events auf internationalem Niveau. Nur schade ist, dass a) die APP vor sich hin stottert und sich immer wieder neu Erfinden muss und b) die ISA ausser ihren Weltmeisterschaften unter dem Jahr kaum ein Laut von sich gibt.
“The ISA and APP also share a vision for the global expansion of SUP via inclusion in major multi-sport events and we are aligned in the mission to see SUP included in future editions of the Olympic Games under the ISA’s leadership and authority. “The APP believes that no other International Sports Federation has been as committed or active as the ISA in the organization and development of SUP. As such, we only recognize the ISA as the rightful world governing body for SUP.”
Keine Frage, die ISA und die APP (Waterman League) sind Pioniere im internationalen SUP Sport. Es ist gut, dass die APP der ISA den Rücken stärkt.
