Battle of the Brands on SUPRacer
« on: January 18, 2018, 06:33:44 AM »
With racers switching teams it got me thinking...I know SUPracer makes adjustments for that but does he count for all the racers that use SIC boards in the M2O and M2M races that are painted like factory Starboard boards and other brands? If not I bet SIC would move up the ladder in the battle of the brands.

The same thought had crossed my mind and I thought about calling them on that,
especially provided they counted all Annabelle Anderson wins on the Sunova towards the company records
but haven't done so with SIC.

But at the end of the day, Supracer is very biased towards sponsoring companies and mostly irrelevant outside
of the sup racing niche.

Last year Connor won on the SIC so that's 40 points right there.

I've commented on this a couple of times over the last year or so when SUPracer posts about this on Facebook.  Every time, my comment gets deleted...guess he doesn't like these questions.   :-X

Guess I will have to post on his facebook page and see what kind of response I get. It should be fair to all.

SUPracer is providing great coverage.

The brands pay.

I haven't looked recently, but  guess since bikes have gone carbon riders probably ride team bikes but before they were often just painted in team colors. Such is life.

SUPracer is providing great coverage.

I don't know about great coverage but yes, it's a needed coverage nonetheless.
I'd rather have this coverage even if it means their ranking results are skewed due-to sponsors.

I make up my own mind about who worth what anyway...

I think you can see this team standings instead of brand standings. The humans are winning on various gear but if Connor went to Naish, you can bet the wins would follow.

Supracer will no longer use a 12 month "rolling" ranking. (see supracer). The slate is wiped clean at the start of the year. Which is when racers switch teams.

So: switching teams problem solved.

Who know... maybe this thread helped influence that.

AFAIC if a team rider uses a board by another shaper under team colors (and the shaper is OK with this) that counts as a team board.

If we here have deeper knowledge as to who really shaped the board then good for us, and we know more than the vanilla Battle of the Brands list tells and good for us.

...

It's nice someone is providing a video feed.

I hope the brands or some other spancer funds that so it can keep getting better. He seems to suggest some announcement on that front.

Speaking about funding, I've just noticed VMG is no longer sponsoring the site or so it seems.
They used to be plastered all over the place.

Might be due-to the off-season period so a lot less traffic to the site. We shall see.

SIC marks all boards with their logo even if the board is painted to look like another teams board. You can see it in the photos.

Not always. I assume that's negotiated. Word gets out to anyone who cares anyway.
Foote 10'4X34", SIC 17.5 V1 hollow and an EPS one in Hood River. Foote 9'0" x 31", L41 8'8", 18' Speedboard, etc. etc.
