I have the 9 5..... it’s a nice fun and easy to surf board.

Best in clean peeling waves imho....has a nice flat rocker feeling for those waves. Love it in those conditions.

I don’t like it as much for messier waves.....which I get a lot of...the low very wide nose catches and goes under. Probably more my paddling but it’s the only Board I have had which I have to concentrate on keeping the nose out of trouble.

I bought a 9 11 longboard cruiser aircraft carrier with more rocker and find that easier for all round stuff.

I have both an 8'5 and 8'11 Striker.  Never have had a problem with their noses.

Thanks both. Full story is that I have the 9-5 striker which I really like.  I'm looking for more of a longboard experience, big single fin, stand back, pivot turn, get on the nose.

Not sure a black blue is what I'm after, dimensions and volume of the 10-0 stylemaster look interesting.   any views if this would be a good move?   Also at almost 90kg will the stylemaster be tippy with those thin rails?  Thanks.

Stylemaster imho isn’t your traditional big single longboard stylee......it’s more a performance longboard. Personally I think they look really good....if it was a choice of a Stylemaster or 9 5 Striker I would go Stylemaster even though I haven’t surfed one. A chapmi know who is into his longboard SUPs and reviews them rates it up as his fave longboard shape so far. But he said it is not a board for getting in extra early ....better with a bit of grunt in the wave. I also have a pal with a SMIK Lord 10 x 30 and he loves it. He’s 75 kg Max and usually surfs low volume boards but says it goes great and very manoeuvreable even for him. He tried a Stylemaster and didn’t feel much excitement from it. The Starby 10 x 29 longboard is pretty good too I gather.

I think you are in UK so don’t rule out the Gong longboards .....their manufacturing has improved and prices good and shapes proven.

I went for a Freshwaterbay 9 11 x 31 old skool stylee. It’s a very easy laid back cruiser longboard shape. Probably a tad wide but I have had a blast on it so far.....too stable and gets in super early....but it is heavy.

I have a pal with a Sunova Style and he noserides that fine....very light and strong. Strangely though I know of one guy who really doesn’t like them at all....and he has tried many longboard shapes. Sunova do a Surf longboard shape which is near identical to the Nalu and you can get that in a slightly cheaper make. Talking about the Nalu....the 10 6 wooden version is a great board...easy everything.

Just to add.....if you can find a carbon Starby Drive they are super nice. The latest version have more volume and width....daft as the original size was a winner.
 Plenty choice!

My other thoughts on the 9 5 Striker.....great all rounder but not quite that longboard feel and too big for a shorter board feel....just a bit in no man’s land. But good all the same. Would have worked better with a slight nose concave

Thanks for the input.  Really like my 9-5 striker, lovely board, no plans to change it.  Looking to add a pure longboard style sup to the quiver, question is - is the stylemaster different enough to my striker.

Coldsup, know anything about the Gong 10-0, the price seems really low?  http://gongsupshop.com/epages/box1707.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/box1707/Products/GON8SUPNFA10W

When i started SUP my first board was a 12 ft NFA .....it was too much bosrd for me at 90 kg but have to admit it was fun in fatter big waves.....surfed off the tail not bad at all. That was about 5 or 6 years ago when their boards were a bit fragile....not that I really had issues.

The NFA is a solid longboard all round shape from what I gather ...will surf well. Post up on Seabreeze as Colas will give you chapter and verse. I guess they are cheaper as he keeps bringing out new longboard shapes and the NFA is considered a bit of an old design....but like the Nalu....if it works why change it much?

I have a 9 6 JL B&B and a 10 Stylemaster.  The BB is a traditional noserider shape and needs to be ridden like one - it took me quite a while to get it dialed in. You need to get on the nose for speed and back to the tail to turn.  It's possibly my favorite SUP.  In the prone world, its a lot like my Stewart Tipster.

The Stylemaster is a modern performance longboard and my go to utility board.  At 135l it is a low volume 10 footer and easy to ride in any conditions.  It will not noseride effortlessly like the BB.

The BB is pure noserider, and I love it, my favorite board, day in, day out. The concave nose sucks onto a wave as soon as you get past the white line on the deck pad, full length deck pad helps as well. Love that board.

Thanks guys.  Sounds like the Stylemaster is too close to what I already have so a 10 BB would be the ideal.  Or maybe that Gong, have seen some good videos of that brand being nose-ridden, lets see what feedback comes back on their 10-0.

I think the 10 ft NFA Gong is more akin to a shredding allround longboard.....if you want oldskool noserider the B.B. is your best option so far imho. There are few designs out there that are pure noserider but the JL is one. Now do you have long peeling waves on tap?

Gong has very good shapes since the shaper is a good longboard rider himself.

I have a Sunova Style 9`6 and it is a very good board too. Easy to noseride compared to some other boards.
