Talking about sub-zero :)
  • * Pro compared to kayaking: your hands don't get wet. I consider this a great advantage, as I can SUP without gloves.
  • * Pro compared to surfing: you can wear a drysuit - much warmer than a wetsuit if you use a good fleece layer underneath. Surfers have to duckdive, so a drysuit would have too much floatation for that (the extra flotation is actually another advantage for SUP). Also, it's much easier to move in a drysuit. I typically use a Kokatat, but I'm sure Palm, IR, Level Six etc drysuits will work fine as well. My hardcore surf friends call my drysuit 'pyjamas', but I laugh back at their ignorant vainness :)
