Jul 1 Social Instagram I graduated to the James river whitewater in Richmond this weekend. After the last year riding the smaller Virginia river fall line rapids at higher levels, I felt good about heading to the James. I have done this run twice before almost two years ago and at a foot lower. Ive waited till the James levels came down to at least a foot higher. I wanted to go with someone that knew the run so i could get as much info and correct lines of the rapids. Ive been messaging Kyle Rohdes @eastcoast43 about the whitewater of the Appo. But he also knows the James run. I also contacted Ben Moore @repjames and he was guiding a small group from the pony pasture launch and we could tag along. That was perfect I got to paddle with Ben and get good info from him and Kyle. The run was perfect for me to gain the confidence to be able to go back at a higher level. I could feel my improvement over the last year and can see where to improve there. I felt like i graduated to the next stage of my river running kayaking. In the first video is some rafting carnage. The second starts off with Bryce Roberts @bryce2532 who dropped into the wave from in front of it. That was cool to see something like that into person. Next Ben takes the first one of his group down the rapid. When she spun he grabbed her bow and guided her over that last rock. That was bad ass! The next one had the smoothest line. The last was the wild one of the group. He gets spun in the little hole on the right side but hit the middle wave and spins back around. That was crazy. They all did that without thigh straps Water Level 4.6 feet My runs on my other page #YakAttack #TeamYakAttackFishing #Aquabound #WhiskeyTangoPaddles #Oceankayak #Trident11 #AFTCO #aftcoclothing #Kokatat #Kokatatfishing #Patuxentrods #Bending_Branches #OriginalMauiJim #Paddleva #kayakkevindotcom #JamesRiver
