The Ultimate Playboat

What’s the “ultimate” playboat? It’s the one that plays best at every feature the river has to offer so no matter what the conditions, you’re in the perfect boat! Whether on big waves, small waves, in a hole, or just in a pool you want to play hard and we do too.

The new stars mix wave-surfing and hole-riding features into the Ultimate combination and will be Team JK’s freestyle machine for 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Fast and Loose yet Friendly: The right mix of speed, carving, spinnability, and user friendliness is achieved! We added a big dose of speed to the 2007 Stars but kept plenty of rocker for worry-free backsurfing and trouble-free landings.

Launches in holes: We took the boat that re-defined ‘huge’ and made it go even bigger.

More comfort: Increased leg and foot room makes this one plush ride – even for slightly larger paddlers.

Lighter Weight: the lightest playboats went on a diet in 2007! Look for 1 pound less weight the New Stars.

I can’t tell you how proud I am of the new Star series. More importantly, I can’t tell you how excited I am to paddle them! Reserve yours today.

Fast slicey huge-looping WINNER

About the reviewer

4th place Worlds 1995, 2005 Nat. Freestyle Champ, Bronze Medalist World Cup 06
Experienced competitor who prefers big downriver play like Gauley, Dries, and Numbers but also loves a deep little park-n-play hole with coffee nearby.

Test environment

Gauley, Rock Island, Ocoee, Salida, BV, Pueblo, Glenwood Springs, Grand Canyon, New, Pine Creek/Numbers, Russel Fork, Upper Yough, Lyons, Lawson, etc.

Review

This All-star puts speed, sliceyness, and looseness on a new level while providing the comfort, forgiving edges, and easy-rolling behavior all JK boats are known for.

Fast enough for big flat waves like Glenwood or Dries at medium but still perfect for little spots like "North Shore'' and Hell hole and Salida. Top performance for Winning matches forgiving edges and roll-ability for everyone.

Strengths - speed; AIR_TIME: whole-boat sliciness for cartwheels, Phonics, Mcnasty's and Orbits; Massive Loops
Absolutely DRY - no screws to leak. Really comfortable, instant-adjusting outfitting.

Weaknesses - hmm... kinda popular?

Sizing - Jonothan Shales takes it HUGE at 135LBS, easiest cartwheels and learning tricks at 175 lbs. Perfect combo of speed and air-time and huck-ability at 150-175lbs.

Conclusion

If you want to get good - or even better - at playboating, the All-star is your best bet.

Jackson All Star

About the reviewer

I'm 5 foot 8 inches and 180 pounds.

Test environment

I just tested the Jackson Star on a lake which i know dosn't say much for performance but im reviewing the over all comfort of the boat.

Review

The boat looks really nice until you try to get into it. First off the height of the boat is just not enough, i only wear a size 9 shoe and bear foot my feet were jammed tight in the front of the boat between the top and bottom. Also my thighs were squished between the hip pads and the bottom of the boat, with my legs being held uncomfortably sideways. I also tried out the superstar but that boat was just too loose on me.

Conclusion

Jackson just doesn't make a boat in the star series that fits me. The funseries is a different story though the regular jackson fun fits me perfect its not too tight but still tight enough to hold you in place while throwing the boat around.

About the reviewer

I have been paddling for a year i can roll i have paddled grade 3 rivers.
New to playboating!

Test environment

Moveing water with some surfable waves and good eddy lines .

Review

The comfort is so good i can sit in this boat much longer than my river boat super nice.
The outfitting looks simply but i found out simply is effective very effective.
Performance well i dont really no yet because the river was to small to propley test it but squirts and small wave surfing was ace it made the small waves alot more fun.

Conclusion

it a very easy and forgiveing playboat to paddle i would recommend it to a new playboater because you will never need to change your boat when you improve great little kayak
